Dying & Bereaved Ministry
When faced with death and dying, some may wonder what ministry could there be? This thought is more common than not!
Dying
Ministry to the dying involves a progressive ministry, that includes:
- Aiding the dying to realize and accept his or her impending death
- Guiding the dying to a spiritual understanding, which leads him/her toward closure during a difficult stage in life
- Reaffirming the acceptance of death, which brings peace to the dying and with God
Our chaplain works with each dying resident, using music, prayer, scriptures and focusing on the process of closure, so that the knowledge of passing is not as devastating.
Hospice
Hospice is a ministry for volunteers who visit dying residents. The visits assist in bringing peace, comfort and acceptance of one’s death. The following organizations provide this valuable service to those facing eternity:
- Hospice of Spencer Hospital may be reached at 712.264.6380
- St. Croix Hospice may be reached at 855.278.2764
- Kindred Hospice may be reached at 712.336.2941
Bereaved
We often lack courage and strength to endure the devastating loss of parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. One need not grieve alone.
